Accounting is a popular major at Loyola in part because it offers a wide range of career opportunities following graduation such as auditors, tax advisors, and management consultants in the public accounting setting. In private business, non-profit organizations, and government, our graduates fill a variety of managerial and technical positions in auditing, controllership, taxation, and administration. An undergraduate accounting degree also serves as an excellent background for a career in law.
Beta Alpha Psi is a national honor society for accounting majors, with membership requirements being high academic achievement and service contributions. The Institute of Management Accountants — Loyola Chapter is open to all students with an interest in accounting and has repeatedly won national awards based on its outstanding program activities. Both organizations give students the opportunity to meet with business professionals and to participate in guest lectures and social activities. Accounting students are also eligible for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the National Business Honor Society.
