The third piece of LENS is our individual emergency notification system. This is a series of “blue light” emergency distress stations strategically placed across campus. By pushing the call button a voice signal is sent directly to our Base dispatch center. Base then dispatches a call to campus police. The dispatch center will stay on the “line” with the person making the call and position CCTV to get a view of the distress station when applicable. Campus police officers will deploy to the calling station and take appropriate action.
There are three types of distress station that you will see on campus:
- Free standing towers/poles with a flashing blue light on the top.
- External building mounted units found in key area all across campus.
- Laundry rooms have systems mounted to the wall in community laundry rooms found in the resident halls.
