What can I Win?

In addition to fame, glory, and recognition by peers and professors, a fascinating prize will be awarded to one student from the intermediate level of each language of Arabic, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.

In addition to fame, glory, and recognition by peers and professors, a fascinating prize will be awarded to one student from the advanced level of each language of French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese and Japanese.

Who can sign up?

All students who have a B or more for their fall grade in their language (103 or 104 or 162), culture or literature class.

How do I sign up?

The application deadline is Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at 4:00pm.  Application forms can be obtained from the individual professor and the Language Learning Center.  They should be filled out and given to Natalie Rock in MH 454.

When and where is it?

Contestants will meet on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 from 5.00-6.00, and Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 11.00-12.00.  The room for both is MH 442.                                         

What will I have to do?

The intermediate level will write an essay of about two pages in the language studied on a subject given at the time.  The use of dictionaries will be permitted. (Students in either 103, 104 or 162)

The advanced level will write an essay of three to five pages in the language studied on a topic to be announced and available in the LLC on Tuesday, March 10.  The use of dictionaries will be permitted.  (Students in 201 or above)

Winners will receive their prizes at the Awards Ceremony on Monday, April 27 at 4.00 in the HUG Lounge/Refectory.
