Judy Phair, founder and senior public relations executive at PhairAdvantage Communications, and her husband Roland King, vice president of public affairs at the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), will present “Ethics and the New Public Relations: Something's Happening Here,” on Tuesday, April 26, in McGuire Hall on Loyola University Maryland’s North Charles Street campus. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m.
Judy Phair is the 2010 winner of the Public Relations Society of America’s Gold Anvil Award, the organization’s highest individual honor. Considered a lifetime achievement award, the Gold Anvil is presented to someone whose work has significantly advanced the profession and set high standards for those practicing public relations. Phair, who founded PhairAdvantage, a global communications, branding, and strategic planning firm based in Howard County, Md., in 2002, previously served as president and chief operating officer of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Roland King has been vice president for public affairs at Washington D.C.-based NAICU since 1998. Prior to joining NAICU, he served as the director of university relations at the University of Maryland at College Park. King is past president and a member of the executive board of the Washington Higher Education Group and also serves on the council of the public affairs and communications leaders for the six higher education “presidential associations.”
The event is sponsored by the Loyola University Maryland chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, the University’s department of communication, and the Maryland Wineries Association.
