Margaret Haggstrom, Ph.D., associate professor of French at Loyola University Maryland, has been named the 2011 recipient of the Dorothy S. Ludwig Excellence in Teaching Award at the post-secondary level. The award, given by the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF), recognizes highly successful French teachers who also participate in conferences, are leaders in the foreign language field, and serve in their professional organizations.
Haggstrom, who specializes in foreign language pedagogy and 18th-century French literature, will receive her award at the AATF conference in Montreal on July 8.
The American Association of Teachers of French is the largest national association of French teachers in the world, with more than 10,000 members. The association, based at Southern Illinois University, includes French teachers at all levels, and produces two publications, French Review, a scholarly journal of French studies, and the National Bulletin, a newsletter devoted to the teaching and promotion of French and Francophone studies.
