The Loyola/Notre Dame Library will present a screening and discussion of the film Persepolis and graphic novel The Complete Persepolis on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Ridley Auditorium.
Loyola University Maryland Professor of English Mark Osteen, Ph.D., will lead the discussion of the 2007 film, which chronicles growing up in Iran during and after the Islamic Revolution, and its adaption from the source text by Marjane Satrapi. Satrapi’s graphic novel is Loyola’s 2010 Common Text, read by all first-year students and the centerpiece of numerous events on campus.
The Loyola/Notre Dame Library is located at 200 Winston Ave. in Baltimore.
The event is part of the “Books into Film” series sponsored by the Maryland Humanities Council. Libraries at several Maryland colleges and universities will offer free screenings and faculty-led discussions of films adapted from popular books. The series begins Oct. 14 at 4 p.m. with a screening and discussion of Grand Isle, based on Kate Chopin’s The Awakening, at the Stevenson University Library.

Light refreshments will be available at all screenings.
