Thomas E. Woods, Ph.D., an historian and bestselling author, will present "A Catholic Defense of Free-Market Capitalism" at Loyola University Maryland on Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 4:30 - 6 p.m. in Knott Hall B03. This event is free and open to the public.

Woods, a senior fellow at the Ludwig von Mises Institute in Auburn, Ala., a research and educational center focused on classical liberalism, libertarian political theory, and the Austrian School of economics, is the author of several books, including The Church and the Market: A Catholic Defense of the Free Economy; How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization; The Church Confronts Modernity; Sacred Then and Sacred Now: The Return of the Old Latin Mass; and two New York Times bestsellers—The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History and Meltdown.

A graduate of Harvard University, Woods holds master's and Ph.D. degrees in history from Columbia University.
